Wed. Aug 24th. Pelee Island Winery

Join us as we travel North America in our
Holiday Rambler Vacationer, since August 2006

Another sunny hot day and loving it, but very windy. Morning walkabouts and computing the seven of us decided to take a 20 minute drive to Kingsville and tour the Pelee Island Winery. Arriving in time for the 12 o'clock tour, we checked out the store.
lots of great wines
With lots of great wines made right here and the grapes grown on Pelee Island, we were invited to taste some of their great wines.
wine tasting
After the tastings we did walking tour of their facilities for making and bottle wine. Very impressive.

At the end  of the tour we had our picture taken inside a huge wine keg set up as a picnic area.
cheers
After the tour we headed back into Leamington and checked out the pier, the beach and the huge waves on this very windy day. So windy in factthat the ferry to Pelee Island has been cancelled. Then we returned to the resort and checked out some of the new trailers on display and back to their sites for a bite to eat. We ended up having supper there, Bill made a pile of homemade fries, John some burgeres and hot dogs, and Wendy the toppings and gravy for us to make "poutine".(french fries smothered with cheese and gravy, (heart attack on a plate). A very tasty and filling supper.

While relaxing we were warned of a tornado watch until about 7.pm. So we walked to the beach and picked up ice cream cones then sat by the water watching the waves, the clouds and looking for signs of tornadoes. The skies were pretty clear and all looked good. After the watch had passed us by we went back to the campsites and enjoyed another campfire for a while before calling it an early night.
yummy ice cream
sun soon setting
Back home checking the tv and weather channels for tornadoes, all had passed us by and we were good. Then it began to rain and thunder for a while shortly after we went to bed, but the winds had finally died down.

Lots more pictures of todays tours.
