Fri. Jan. 21st 2011 Quartzsite AZ

Join us as we travel North America in our Holiday Rambler Vacationer,
 since August 2006

Friday and the weekend is here!! Bright, sunny and warm gotta love it. Coffee, computing and a quick trip to the Quartzsite General store for a few items before the traffic gets too bad. But no smoked chops yet, they will be in this afternoon.

Beer is more money here so to the Roadrunner Market is a few doors down where 30 cans of Milwaukee's Best  is $13.99 compared to $16.99, gotta stock up for the weekend. Also grabbed a 5 lb chicken for supper, $4.00, excellent price. By 9:30am the traffic on 95 was lined up coming into town just crawling up the road, tomorrow it will be much worse.

I walked over to Tyson Wells and picked up a very efficient battery operated 30 LED lamp for $10.00 that we had seen the other day. This is a great bright light for a good price and allows Suzie to read in the morning and night on the couch without using our battery power in the coach.

Now back home just puttering around, chatting with a lot of neighbours and watching more RV's coming in all day long looking for the perfect spot of dirt to park on close to the Big Tent for the week long RV show. Squeeze here and squeeze there, just need to leave 15 feet between each other, thousands of acres here but everybody want close, thats why we arrived early. This in itself was entertaining for a good portion of the day. We relaxed with our books and were able to read occasionally between people dropping by to chat, everybody is friendly and from all over the place.

About 2:00pm I went back to the General store and braved some of the traffic, this 5 minute drive took about 45 minutes but I got our smoked pork chops, they were almost sold out! A few bike rides around the desert dirt here just checking out the amazing crowds and on the roof to take a few pictures of this same area we were in in late november, we were pretty isolated then. Across the road is a group of about 20, front wheel drive GMC Classic Motorhomes  that were built between 1973 and 1978, collectors items now

Before we knew it was almost 5:00 pm and time to fire up the Barbie and throw on our chicken, baked potatoes and fresh broccoli. A nice supper as the sun set, chat a while, and Suzie can read (on the couch) with her new light, then a bit of tv before calling it a night.
