Tues. Sept.14th 2010 New Hamburg

Join us as we travel North America in our Holiday Rambler Vacationer, since August. 2006

Bright, sunny and a bit warmer today. Now I have the part to fix the blower motor fan in our car. This is for the heating and air conditioning. I have always enjoyed working on cars and still do if I have the proper tools. So I researched this procedure and found it a complicated but do-able procedure. The internet really helps with just about everything. 50 years ago there was no internet but cars were pretty simple (just nuts and bolts as our mechanic Dale says) in comparison to todays hi tech complicated vehicles. I had checked the switch and the motor and both were fairly accessible and working. Research told me there is a blower motor resistor that controls the speeds and is probably defective.

To begin the procedure I have to disable the SIR (air bag system)  then remove the top of the dash, disconnect the defroster duct and move to the right side. There it is, this troublesome resistor crammed into a very tight spot. Patiently I removed it and replaced with the new one and reassembled the dash, enabled the Air Bag system and it works! We now have a dash fan system again after only one and one half hours.  Years ago everything used to be nuts and bolts but this whole procedure involved only 4 small screws, the rest was plastic clips, velcro and plastic parts.

With this done I went to visit mother to make a few more adjustments on her computer then a few stops in New Hamburg for some food items and barbeque propane. While Suzie did laundry and played with the dog Omer.

Then I hooked up the propane tank and BBQ'd many chicken parts for supper with some french fries and a salad, and relax for a bit before bedtime.
